Modesto Tent and Awning has been in business since 1930 after Minden Valk purchased several truck loads of World War I surplus army tents, and began to resell them. In 1980, Minden's grandson Bob Valk took over the family business, and the company grew to be recognized as a leader in custom canvas and vinyl products in the Central Valley.
